DROUIN SPEEDWAY ONCE AGAIN THE PLACE TO BE THIS SUNDAY

This Sunday the 9th of February at Drouin Speedway the Victorian Mini Sprints headline another great race meeting where many from around West Gippsland, the South East Suburbs of Melbourne and Central Gippsland show their skills from adults to children & open wheels and sedans.

The Mini Sprints field are racing for a Gold Cup round and the title in the Gippsland Zone title race combined. Victorian Champion Owen Milton has eleven challengers including the winner last time at Drouin Stuart Ferguson. Fergusons son Luke is also difficult to beat along with Kevin Bomford, Danny Milton & Matt Parsons. Expect some outstanding racing from the little winged machines.

The Open Standard Saloon field is in their second round of the track championship. Local representation is strong with Patrick & Jacob Vuillermin, Mark Miles from Pakenham in the field, Travis Evans a Drouin township local, Victor Benson & Leigh Gooding all Drouin Members and top of the field racers along with recently crowned Victorian Champion Ladies racer Anne Gooding. Jeff Blencowe from Bunyip who had a top five result at his first ever race meeting last month is also back for seconds.

Visiting Vintage divisions from the VSC Vintage Super Modifieds & Classic Sprintcar club plus the Ace of Spades Vintage Sedan club will once again do demonstrations.

Junior Sedan racing from the national division 1200cc Sedan division and the Junior Standard Saloon divisions are also going to be again entertaining. The 1200s are slated for a feature event if they have enough nominations and early indications are that the correct amount of drivers wish to nominate including last race meeting winner Caleb Lincoln, the recently returned Donald Young who won at Nyora this past weekend, Jackson Lunt, Ricky Cornwell, Aiden Bellman & Jack Van Breman. The Junior Standards will run their Hot Wheels Hero event with a good field already entered including the Victorian champion Tyson Cull, Josh Thomas, Michael Suckling and Ally Morrison returns after a big crash last race meeting proving she is as tough as her dad.

The Open Sedans are scheduled to run their King of the Ring event with local racers Joel Andrews & father and son team Wayne & Jaedn Alberni hoping there is enough competition keen to compete with them.
