This Sunday January 31st Drouin Speedway continues their Summer Sizzle of Speedway with 3 major feature events and at least 60 race cars in the pit enclosure. The annual 6 Cylinder Standard Saloon ‘Riley Memorial’ is sure to excite following on from the fantastic racing we have had this season in Standard ranks. The awesome SDAV Hot Rods bring the ‘Thunder Down Under’ series back to Drouin and the Division 2 Hot Rods run a round of their state series also.
Amongst the front runners in the 26 car Standard Saloon field expect to see Jason Leonard, Ben Brighton, last start winner Michael Ardley, Paul Cadle and Matt Jones. The ‘Fords’ are on top so far this season at Drouin and it will take a mighty effort or the Holden drivers to come out on top.
In Hot Rod competition last start winner Ray Welsh will once again be amongst the action along with Kali Hovey and local racer Dean West from Maryknoll. Shannon Meakins makes his debut stepping out of his V8 Standard Saloon and into the V8 open wheeler.
In the Division 2 Hot Rod’s series round again there is over 20 cars nominated and the action is sure to be on with the likes of Alan McKinnon, Trish Dike, Scott Laidlaw, Daryl Logue, Ricky Mills, John Dike Jnr and Jeff Leahy.
Junior Sedans are also running a feature event on a double header weekend for them as they run Nyora on Saturday night. Ladies Standard Saloons and V8 Standard Saloons also complete the action packed field.
Competitors need to be in the pits by 10am and racing begins at 11am. Nominations are still being accepted by Bruce on 0439 934 522.
Prices for admission are $40 for a family of 2 adults and two kids between 12-16, $15- for Adult, $10 for Age/Invalid pensioner and kids 12-16yrs old
