VICTORIAN CHAMPION WINS THE ELIMINATOR……………..& A CHRYSLER WON TOO!

Chris Stewart the current Victorian Standard Saloon Champion returned to Drouin Speedway on Sunday the 9th of November to defend last seasons win in the Eliminator Cup leading to the finish line Brad Hill & his own brother Daniel who finished in third place whilst David May took the first round win in the Victorian Mini Sprints state series & Brad Warren in a Chrysler Centura won the Unlimited Sedan track championship round.

Standard Saloons were the feature event of the day and held four heats to determine starting positions in the final. Chris Stewart won the first heat getting the better of Dale Morrison then the second when he led hom Mark Miles. Jason Leonard won the only heat the Victorian Champion wasnt scheduled to race in before Stewart wrapt up a three from three result in qualifying by winning the last qualifying heat.

The final runs eight laps one way, then eight the reverse way before turning around once more to run twelve laps for the money. Stewart was never in trouble in a dominate display with various second placed drivers before the race settled in the closing laps with Miles striking difficulty and Hill capatilising to take second in front of Daniel Stewart then came Miles in his ailing Falcon & Travis Evans completing the top five finishers.

In Mini Sprints Owen Bulman, May & May again won the three heats with May extremely quick in lap times dropping from 17.8 second laps in the first heat to 16.1s by the time the third heat got done. May went on to win the feature from Bulman, Jason Lynn, Luke Hickson & Darren Schnoor.

Unlimited Sedans were competing for their track championship points in round one & visiting Nyora club driver Marcus Reddecliffe in a Cortina powered by a 250 crossflow took a win in the first heat before Shannon Burke in a 305ci Injected SL engined Commodore won the second & third heats putting himself on the front row of the final where he was unable to capatilise and take a victory after Brad Warren in a 265ci Hemi powered Centura made an outside pass inbetween turn three and four to take the lead and storm on to a win from Burke, Des Birkin, Daniel Wanders & Rob Bushell.

Ladies Standard Saloons were won by Anne Gooding, Donald Young won the Junior Standard Saloons whilst his sister Zoe won the Junior 1200 Sedans.
