DROUIN SPEEDWAY BACK WITH GREAT ACTION THIS SUNDAY

Drouin Speedway on Jindivick Road is back this Sunday from 11am with a huge day of entertainment for family & friends from 11am to around 4.30pm with the annual Standard Saloon Eliminator Cup sharing the spot light with round one of the Division 2 Hot Rod Track Championship & the ‘Mighty Mouse Magic’ for Mini Sprintcars with Junior Standard Saloons, SSA Junior Sedans & VSC Sedans all have important races to compete in also.

The Standard Saloon Eliminator Cup this year supported by local business Latrobe Waste is always a tough race on the calendar with Chris ‘Big Bird’ Stewart, Jacob & Patrick Vuillermin, Mark Miles, Sean Connolly, Leigh Gooding, Matt Nelson, Nick Chrystie & Victor Benson amongst strong nominations received for the event trying to win $700 big ones! The Vuillermins dominated the last meeting at Drouin and with some stiff competition added to the field they will have a battle on their hands.

The Division 2 Hot Rods ran a race meeting at Drouin late last season and loved an improved race surface and have got behind a Track Championship concept running across three rounds this season. Round one has attracted Rob Tatterson, Scotty Laidlaw, Ricky Mills, Toby Callanan & Andrew Galley amongst a dozen drivers who have already nominated to run round one supported by Allman’s Fencing whilst Southern Chassis Works will also be supporting the Hot Rods track championship at Drouin.

The popular Gippsland based division will also honour a fallen comrade, Mr Barry Ross who passed away this past week & be keen to win this first round.

The Victorian Mini Sprints had their first run last Saturday night at Nyora Raceway and return to Drouin Speedway to compete for the ‘Mighty Mouse Magic’ an event in honour of Mr Mighty Mouse himself Colin Lindell whom also passed away in recent weeks and whom had a long association with Drouin Speedway Club & Mini Sprints in their former guise the Mini Modifieds. Victorian Champion Owen Milton will be challenged by Stuart Ferguson, Danny Milton & Kevin Bomford all of whom have already nominated.

The Junior Standard Saloons fresh off round one of their Victorian series held at Nyora Raceway this past Saturday night have some keen youngsters set to battle for the CB’s Bin Mob Cup with trophies for first to third. Ty Hutton, Casey Lovell, Ally Morrison, Michael Suckling, Jack Yeoman, Joshua Thomas & Bailey Perkins with many of the kids rookies in racing who will be keen to finish with a trophy however they will all need to try to defeat Tyson Cull the current Victorian Champion who will be keen to go one better than last weekends second place result.

SSA Junior Sedans will be competing for the Jenkins Sheetmetal Junior Sedan Slam with Michael Skene a former winner at Drouin in a feature event a nomination. Jack Van Breman & Shona Bent will be challenging whilst Jake Warren was a big improver at Warrnambool last Saturday night.

VSC Sedans with Mono construct race cars will have round one of a the JA Signs & Graphics supported round one of their Track Championship where father and son duo Wayne & Jaedn will resume battle with Joel Andrews, Brendan Miller & Peter Eastham amongst challengers.

Gates open at 8.30am with entry at $15 for Adults, a family ticket is $40 for two adults & 2 kids, kids aged 12 – 16 enter at $10 as do aged & invalid pensioners. Any child under the age of 12 are free
