Dean Thompson posted Monday May 31, 2010.
This Sunday Drouin Speedway has the roar of engines for the final time this season with feature race action being provided by Street Stocks and Wingless Sprints to close out the season.
Street Stocks haven’t raced at Drouin for some time and are a welcome return with current South Australia # 1 and former National Champ Brad McClure heading the nominations.
Along with McClure is a healthy list of challengers that will all be vying for the win including hard chargers Mark Topperwein, Troy Polley, Daryl Atkinson, Rick Sankey, Daniel Knight, Jason Braddock, John Roycroft, Des and Stuart Robinson, Gary Vagg, Adam Parsons and Chris Hay with some drivers coming as far away as Warrnambool and Swan Hill to compete.
In Wingless Sprints the expectation is that there will be a dozen cars on hand including former Australia # 2 Brad Warren, North East Wingless Sprints point score champion David McKay and multiple feature winner this season, Scott Drew.
Also on the program are the Men’s and Ladies Standard Saloons and a throwback to yesteryear with the Vintage Modifieds also making an appearance with a handful of cars from back in the 70’s and 80s to give spirited race demonstrations from a time when Sprintcars were called Super Modifieds.
Nominations are still open until Wednesday by calling Bruce Bullard on 0439 934 522. Competitors need to be in the pits by 10am and racing begins at 11am.
Prices for admission are $40 for a family of 2 adults and two kids between 12-16, $15- for Adult, $10 for Age/Invalid pensioner and kids 12-16yrs old
