LOCAL RACER WINS ELIMINATOR CUP AT DROUIN SPEEDWAY

Drouin Speedway’s second meeting of the current season has been run & won with local Pakenham racer and Drouin club member Mark Miles winning the clubs biggest annual feature event of the calendar when he was able to out run Traralgon driver Jacob Vuillermin & another Drouin member Cameron Dike in the 24 lap final.

Miles was having his first run of the season & came out on top after a great scrap with Vuillermin seen the two each spend time in the lead with Dike never troubled in third place for his position.

Miles once in the lead himself, spent some time comfortably in front and other moments being hounded by Vuillermin.

After his win Miles had a couple of words to say. “Thank you to every body that has helped in the off season & today. With out you all, winning is much harder to achieve. Thank you for the great competition Jacob & congratulations to the other place getters. We will enjoy this early season win & look forward to great competition in the state point score this season.”

Heat wins earlier went to Mitch Blencowe, Mick Lovell, Dike, Russell Hill, and Vuillermin & Miles whilst race chances at the start of the day Col Yeomans, Brad Hill & Russell Hill & later Lovell were all victims of crashes or mechanical issues & didn’t make the final at all.

The Junior Standard Saloon racing was great with Matt Bowers, Gemma Laidlaw & Jack Yeomans all taking heat wins before Bowers defeated Yeomans & Laidlaw in the final.

The Vintage Super Modifieds that included some quality machinery from days gone sounded beautiful with their mostly V8 power plants. Jim Duggan was the day’s favourite in an old American Sprint whilst in Unlimited Sedans Peter Angus snatched a win over Mick Evans on the very last lap and last corner when he drove turn four better after putting pressure on Evans to go wide.

Racing returns to Drouin December 13th with Mini Sprints & a Junior Standard Saloon series feature.
